Disabled visitors, seniors and families with pushchair

Next to the museum, you will find parking spaces saved for disabled people (others specific spots are located further). The road between the parking and the museum is easily accessible with a wheelchair.

Access to the reception area, shop, and toilets are on the ground level. Our reception desk is equipped with a lowered counter to accommodate wheelchair users or people of small stature. It is possible to sit down. Folding chairs are available at the reception desk upon request.

The entire modern part of the museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Specific seats are reserved in our video room where a 15-minute film is shown.

The bunker is not fully accessible for disabled people due to small steps (between 5 and 10 cm in height) at each doorway.
It is then impossible for electric wheelchairs to circulate safely in the premises, their battery being situated too low. The assistance of an attendant may be required for people in manual wheelchairs.

Most of the products in our shop are accessible to wheelchairs. If it were not the case, our reception staff will be delighted to help you with your shopping.

Deaf or hard of hearing people

The Hospital Bunker Museum offers a 15-minute introductory film with English subtitles. This movie traces back the history of World War II in Les Sables d'Olonne, specifically focusing on the role of the bunker.

Blind or visually impaired people

It is recommended to be with somebody during the visit. Indeed, there are many small steps in the premises of the bunker that are indicated with black and yellow strips that mark them.

People with learning disabilities

Recreated scenes with full-size mannequins make the visit easier to understand for people with learning disability.
